A fully handmade late‑Victorian to early‑Edwardian brooch crafted in solid 14ct gold, featuring an old‑cut diamond of bright F–H colour and VS clarity in an eight‑claw centre setting, with a crescent moon set with three rose‑cut diamonds also graded VS for clarity. Crescent motifs were especially loved between 1885 and 1910, symbolising femininity, intuition and new beginnings.
The brooch measures 5cm and fastens with its original fold‑over pin, wire‑loop catch and safety chain.
The safety chain and pin are not gold - This is a common and intentional choice in antique jewellery, as stronger base metals were preferred for components that needed to resist bending and wear.
The total weight of 4.26g includes these non‑gold fittings.
